Are you celebrating the July 4th holiday this week? By tweaking certain ways you have fun for this holiday you can celebrate and remain healthy and safe. Below we’ve listed some health and safety tips you might consider this July 4th:
Practice Safety with the Sun
When it comes to the sun, it is always a good idea to stay protected. Your tan might look more like a burn if you don’t use sunscreen and you’re out in the sun for a long period of time. If you stay out in the sun for too long, the sun rays will become more harmful than beneficial. Sunburns have been known to cause skin cancer, so be sure to stay in the shade when you can and apply plenty of sunscreen on any part of your skin that is showing. Also keep in mind that even on a cloudy day, you can still get a sunburn.
With the heat and possibly humid weather this July 4th it is good to stay hydrated. Though alcoholic beverages may feel refreshing, they won’t keep you hydrated. Beer and other alcohols will make you dehydrated on top of the warm weather that is already making you parched. To avoid dehydration, be sure to drink plenty of ice-cold water and eat any fruits with water in it, such as watermelons.
Stay Active and Eat Healthy
On this holiday people tend to not only just watch firework displays, but also play outside. During the day, encourage your party guests to bring their favorite lawn game or healthy snack. Then you can take turns trying out all the different games to allow everyone to be active and fit. The healthy snack can come in handy to give everyone the energy boost they need to get back out there and play more lawn games.
July 4th is a not only a great holiday to spend with family and friends but to also stay healthy and safe. It is great to be outdoors playing lawn games but be sure to take caution and stay cool and protected from the sun.
