Commonly, clinicians will prescribe wrist and hand exercises that primarily focus on hand flexion. While this is important for performing activities of daily living, we cannot forget about hand extension. Strengthening hand extensors is important to prevent imbalance of antagonist musculature but allow individuals to utilize those muscles in essential daily tasks including the ability to open one’s hand. There are many great ways to help strengthen hand extensors.
